Protect Your Relationships. Time To Disconnect To Reconnect.

This Christmas, I was invited by Prudential to share a video dedication to someone special in my life. Always game for new experiences, I said “sure!” and off I went to the nearest Prudential Video Booth, which happens to be at Ocean Financial Center near my workplace.

As part of the Prudential Relationship Index campaign, the Prudential #OnePersonOneThing booth aims to help us build stronger bonds in our relationships and gives us the opportunity to record a video clip and share it immediately with our loved ones.

I thought long and hard about who that special someone was – my mom? dad? my son? my daughter? Or should it be my hubby? There are so many other family members and friends who have a special place in my heart. Who should I dedicate this message to. At the end of the day, only one person stood out; winning the contest hands down. Can you guess who it is?

Yup! It is hubby dearest! The duration of the clip is about 60 seconds long. That’s easy; or so I thought.

As I started to share my dedication, tears welled up in my eyes and I choked on my words. I did not expect myself to be emotional. Suffice to say, I scrapped the video because I do not want the world to see my ugly crying face on the video (haha…).

On my second attempt, I had so much to say that my message was cut off mid-sentence at 60 seconds. Luckily there was a “redo” button and a “preview” button. After my fourth or fifth attempt, I was finally happy with my message to my hubby. it was a bit sanitized but I think he got the gist of my message.

Give a different kind of X’mas present this festive season. Tell someone you love how much you appreciate them in a video dedication. Best of all it is FREE. Head down to the Prudential One Person One Thing booth at Ocean Financial Centre to record your #special video #message. If you missed the opportunity to share a video with your loved one, here is another exercise that Prudential is championing – Disconnect to Reconnect.

This festive season, Prudential encourages friends, families and couples to have a real conversation. According to the Prudential Relationship Index report, more than 33% people in Singapore think technology makes having deep conversation more difficult. Can real conversations take place when people put away their mobile phones? To find out, Prudential conducted a social experiment last month where they asked people to keep their mobile devices away and focus on their company. Without any devices in hand, people were seen to be engaging more with their friends and family. Watch the video on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PrudentialSingapore/videos/1264275056965336/

Relationships are precious. Protect them. It’s time to disconnect to reconnect.
