Waterparks: Waterbom Bali (Indonesia) – #1 in Asia
Even before we made plans to go to Bali, we heard that Waterbom Bali is a MUST to visit. Everyone raved about this water park and we were excited to see it for ourselves. Waterbom Bali is the #1 best water park in Asia, and #2 in the World, according to Tripadvisor.com
As soon as we walk in, we noticed that Waterbom Bali is different. An oasis in the middle of the famous Kuta stretch, Waterbom Bali sets itself in lush tropical garden with many great rides and attractions.
At the entrance, we saw a very fun Euro-Bungy and pails of balloon balls for little kids to play. But my kids were more keen on the slides, so off we went…
Throughout this 3.8 hectares of landscaped tropical parks, exciting water slides were calling out to us. Rides with names like Superbowl, Boomerang, Water Blaster, Race Track, Boogie Ride, Smash Down, Climax, Pipeline and venomous snakey lines like Python, Constrictor, and Green Vipers dare us to take the leap. We could not wait to get started!!
The climb to the top of the slides can sometimes go as high as six-storey, so make sure you have an energetic breakfast with carbohydrates or milk and cereal to meet the challenges of the slides.
The climb can be challenging for the younger ones, especially with the tube. However, the rush of adrenaline and the motivation to conquer the rides might provide sufficient boost to propel them straight to the top.
Slow Down
After all that rush, rest a little between your rides down the fierce slides. Waterbom Bali has graciously provided a few more chill activities and services such as Face Painting, Massages, Nail Art (manicure / pedicure) and Hair braiding. The braiding might cost more than the ones on the streets, but they were pretty nonetheless.
Services like caricature drawing (face painting) below takes about 30 minutes and cost about Rp 80,000. You can even get a foot reflexology or back and shoulder massage from Rp75,000 to Rp140,000 respectively. If the slides chip your nail, moms can get it repaired or a fresh new look on the spot. Be mindful that you might have to queue.
All that climbing up and sliding down action is bound to result in rumbling tummies. Waterbom Bali has a small food area that sells you full meals like Nasi Padang, savories, kiddy-bites like cheesy fries and chicken/sausage nachos, snacks like doughnuts, brioche and assorted cakes.
The kids wanted to play at the kiddy-pool, so we parked ourselves near that so they could play and eat at the same time.
Going down the extreme slides on a full stomach may not be a good idea. Float on the Lazy River is another way to slow down and rest while you wait for your second, third or fourth wind.
We definitely can see why Waterbom Bali is the TOP waterpark in Asia and the world. The variety of rides were amazing. Despite us visiting during the June holidays, the park was not exceptionally crowded. Queues to the rides and services moved efficiently. Definitely worth every penny and every minute of the day we spent there. The lush garden setting also makes it THE most relaxing and spa-like waterpark we have been to. Verdict: Highly Recommended.
