It is always fun to be invited to an event where you get to hang out with fellow bloggers and meet new ones.
A couple of Saturdays ago, the team from theAsianparent.com hosted a casual tea session at The Daily Scoop Ice Cream Cafewhere a few of us bloggers came together to explore possibility of working with them ala “Huffington Post” style.
It was a fun afternoon where we traded stories and shared about our programme structures, the challenges we face as individual bloggers and the types of content that we contribute to our Asian readers.
theAsianparent.com team shared their vision for their growing online magazine and got us excited about their impending launch of a blogger / contribute pilot programme in the near future.
It is always fun to catch up with fellow parenting bloggers Steven Teo from “The Perfect Father” and Jenn Lim from My Lil Bookworm. I am amazed by Steven’s energy to work full-time and be so involved in his four children’s lives. And I always enjoy sharing educational thoughts with Jenn.
I was also very happy to meet bloggers outside my stratosphere at this session — Cindy Soo from Little Red dot Money Saving Mum and Clara Song fromdblchin.com. Here is a group photo of the bloggers with the Asianparent team – Roshni, Ruoshan, Sumati, Minoli, and Memom founder, Waki Yoneoka (read about our interview here).
And if you are wondering why there is a kid at this event, yes that is my daughter. She found out I was going to an ice-cream cafe and her sweet tooth prompted her to tag along. One of the perks of being a parent blogger is that you can bring your child along with you to work!
Happiness in a Scoop
I want to give a quick shout out to the The Daily Scoop Ice Cream Cafewho hosted our event. The white and pristine decor of the cafe gave it a very clean and unassuming atmosphere. Make sure to check out the wall of inspired quotes (see the background of the group photo above).

We also took home a goodie bag that included this awesome Smoothie King bottle. Initially, I thought “Great, another bottle for my son!” You will not believe the number of bottles this boy can lose within 6 months!
When we opened it, we saw more goodies, free smoothie and stamp smoothie card. Also, a quick search on the internet reveal that Smoothie King’s Smoothies are much more than just fruit in a blender! They are real fruit, blended with purified ice and packed with good-for-you ingredients such as Multi-Vitamins, Proteins & Collagen. We can’t wait to get our hands on one of those smoothies at one of their eight branches all over Singapore.
