While I am quite happy in our home, every now and then it looks a tad old and tired to me. This is when I start rearranging the placement of the furniture and giving the rooms a bit of a makeover.
So when I received an invitation to a cosy evening at Wihardja, I dragged my hubby along not so much for company, but more to persuade him that our home needs a new update.
When we walked into Wihardja showroom, dinner was served. We were invited to make ourselves feel at home and dine on any of the coffee or dining tables. We found a nice cosy table refurbished from its former glory days as a sewing machine and given new lease of rock life with a Highway Route 66 table top.
When we moved into our new home ten years ago, we wanted to replicate a Bali resort-like space in our home. Wihardja with its specialization of teakwood furniture and accessories from Indonesia was THE place to go to. Back then the trend was a darker stained teak wood furniture.
Today, as I walked around the Wihardja showroom, I was struck by how modern the designs were and the brightness of the wooden furniture. I LOVE the new collections which is a blend of modern designs with old world charm. Starting with this refurbished table set that we had our dinner on.
You will also find pieces that are sure to be talking points with your guests like this Coca Cola bottle caps table and stools set ($599). There are only a few of such commissioned pieces and this might likely be the last set!
How about reading by the light of a quirky oversized birdcage lamp post? If nothing else, it adds a touch of romanticism to the atmosphere, don’t you think?
Au Naturale Pieces
I LOVE, LOVE this divine coffee table with a simple square glass top resting on a woven tree trunk embedded with all its natural history. I want to bring this home!

Practical Designer Pieces
I asked Wiharja’s manager, Ronny how the new designs came about. He explains that Wihardja customises its furniture to suit their customers’ needs. By taking in feedback from customers, the design team was able to offer designs that are palatable to the eye and functional at the same time. Look at these charming old world new look TV consoles — perfect for your modern living spaces.
