Changi Experience Studio is now open. The latest attraction at the newly opened Jewel Changi Airport taps on technology and serves up a futuristic world that tells the story of Changi Airport through interactive exhibits and gives visitors a glimpse of the day-to-day operations of the airport via interactive games. It also pays homemade to the 50,000 airport staff that operates Changi Airport daily and makes it the world-class airport it is today.

You will be issued a Travel Guide upon payment. With the RFID reader, your Travel Guide will digitally lead you through a fun learning journey that is the Changi Experience. Here is what you can look forward to.

Educational and Informational

Upon entering, you arrived at the Cloud area where you are welcomed by butterflies on your Travel Guide. You move in to the Time Tunnel where a series of interactive exhibits share the history of Changi Airport’s development from past to present. Then, you head into the Hanging Garden, a beautiful space with hanging plants that share more details of the various parts of the airport and their operations.

Need new ideas for vacation destinations? The Sky Deck is not just a fun area to learn about the network of flight paths but also where you can fly to from Singapore. Use your Travel Guide for more details to each destination.

Fun Interactive Games For Everyone

Learn what makes the airport tick with these fun interactive games and pit your skills against the best of digital warriors. Cycle your way through the adrenaline pumping Runway Race, challenge your friends or yourself at the Backstage and see if you can run the behind-the-scenes operations without any hitch. Go on a quest with the Unsung Heroes to collect the highest number of airport trolleys and perform other duties that the airport staff do to ensure that the airport runs smoothly everyday!

Will the race car beat the aircraft? That depends on the teammates you have racing with you on the Runway Race. Ready, Set, Go!
Backstage Table for behind the scenes airport action. Remember to note down your score. The name of the highest scorers will be flashed on the screen for all to see.
These interactive games come with staggered degree of difficulty so the higher you go, the more challenged you feel. But it is all in the name of fun and learning.

  • Didn’t get the highest score? Try again and again until you do. There is no limit to the number of times you can play. Perfect place for a teenage gamer to spend the afternoon.

SMILE Often

The services at Changi Airport are served with plenty of smiles. To this effect, take the Smile Challenge and see if your smile is good enough to go on the leader-board of smiles (the row of human cutouts whose screen changes to feature the best smiles– those that score 90% and above).

Take home something fun as keepsake. Pose in 6 different restricted areas where we have no access to such as the runway, the control room or peek from the Peranakan windows inside the airport’s wall screen.

You can print out the photos with your Travel Guide at the photo kiosk next to the gift shop when you exit from the Changi Experience Studio. Photos are $4 each, or $10 for a bundle of 3 prints. The photos are 5R sizes, so is quite worth it.

A word of caution, the background for the Sky Deck is green and if you wear anything in green, the color gets absorbed. See the the prints below. We had a good laugh about my son’s almost-invisible-ness. But lesson learnt, do not wear GREEN color anything when you visit Changi Experience Studio.

Garden of Harmony

The Garden of Harmony is at the innermost sanctum of Changi Experience Studio and continues with the butterfly theme of harmony. Gently sway the lily pads and watch butterflies flit from one lily pad to another. It’s quite fun and therapeutic.

Head to the amphitheater side and open your Travel Guide to play with the different instruments. Raise and lower your Travel Guide to hear the different pitch and speed tempo of the instrument. When it reaches 100%, a symphony of music is released as a tribute to the 50,000-strong airport staff who serve the visitors day in and day out.

Your last stop is at The Finale where you watch a short clip of the airport futuristic ventures. You have the option to exit or venture back in for more games.

All in all, we (the adults and children) enjoyed ourselves tremendously. You could easily spend two hours at the Changi Experience Studio. For those who need some downtime from the games, there are seating areas in the Arena with a great view of the famous Rain Vortex (aka the waterfall).
