We got a call one day inviting us to “Wake Up With Zespri”.
Sunday mornings are usually our lazy days. We like to sleep in and have a leisurely morning after a hectic week of 6am-mornings. But for the sake of family bonding and initiating a healthy lifestyle, we decided to bite the bullet and go for it.
Sunday morning! I have to admit we had some difficulty getting up; the kids had to be bribed with a visit to the DBS Regatta five-storey slide after the Zespri event. We arrived at 9am and parked at the New Parliament House
By the time we sauntered to the Jubilee Lawn at Empress Place (told you we are not morning people on Sunday), the picnic ground was packed with fitness enthusiasts ready for their morning workout — see picture below.
We had just missed the Zespri SunGold Salutations Vinyasa yoga class led by Vijay Singh. But that was ok because we were there to do some Pop Pilates with Cassey Ho, a popular fitness instructor and YouTube influencer. Now, I am completely unaware of the popularity of this star fitness instructor till today. She was amazing and the crowd completely responded to her in a beautiful energetic manner.
It was a completely different experience working out in the outdoors and with so many people. The energy was infectious!
For the Kiddos
Many families brought their kids along and there were plenty of activities for them to do. The kids had fun on the Zespri Kiwi Tricycle (below).
Kids could also do some colouring as well as gardening activities while their parents exercise. The first 150 young Zespri fans who arrived early received an illustrated Zespri Kiwifruit World T-shirt by Harry Malt, a renowned illustrator and artist from London. Talk about the Early Bird catching the best worms!!
The Golden Fruit
Did you know that Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit is a healthy and guilt-free indulgence that is high in antioxidants and low in calories. Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit contains more than 20 essential vitamins and nutrients. It is one of the best sources of vitamin C among fruit and vegetables, containing more than three times the amount of vitamin C found in oranges!
Based on a study from the University of Otago, Christchurch (UOC), eating two kiwifruits a day can improve a person’s mood and provide them with extra energy (source) because the high-levels of vitamin C found in them helps to activate a number of enzymes in the body that enhance the levels of metabolic energy and different neurochemicals in the brain.
You can get Zespri Kiwifruits at any leading supermarkets. My son loves Zespri Kiwis. he likes the Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit ($6 for 5 pieces) but prefers the Zespri green Kiwifruit ($5 for 4 pieces) as he likes the sour taste. And based on the above scientific find, I am making Zespri Kiwis part of our daily snacks today.
What about you? Share how or what you eat your Zespri Kiwifruit with…
Till our next post, love yourself, love one another.
