Best Halloween Fun For Your Tween/Teenagers
What do you do when your tweens (9 to 11 years old) outgrow the kiddy NOT-SO-SCARY type of Halloween parties but are not yet ready for the REALLY SCARY aka Haunted Houses and Universal Studios Blood Moon type of Halloween?
This is the right place to go – Woodlands Woodgrove Halloween!!
Halloween Trick Or Treat at Woodlands Woodgrove is held every year on 31st October (Halloween Day) from 6pm to 8pm or till the candy runs out. We share with you why this is the BEST Halloween for your older kids.
1) It is FREE.
There is NO CHARGE to trick or treat in this neighborhood. All candies, decorations, and activities are generously funded by the residents in the neighborhood. How cool is that?! Check out the map for the location of the neighborhood.

When you arrive in the Woodlands area, park at the Al Ameen Eating house multistorey car park (30 Woodlands Ave 1, Singapore 739065) and follow the trail of trick or treaters to the Woodgrove area. Check out the map above if you are planning to head there next year.
2) Amazing Halloween Decorations
The residents really make an effort to decorate their homes, gardens, gates, and yards for the occasion. Some are creepy fun while others are downright haunting and sinister. A picture says a thousand words… I will let the pictures do the sharing on this post.
3) We Love The Characters
What is a Halloween without the big bad scary green witch? We love the characters that we meet along the way! This is Halloween Disneyland!!
Look! It is Super Mario!

I haven’t seen one of these in ages and so was super to find a Chinese Emperor Vampire!
This is a blue Jelly Fish patiently held up by one of the residents.
And this moomoo cow character in a deflatable material just made us smile!
4) The Mardi-Gras Like Atmosphere
For my tweenies, dressing up is half the fun for Halloween. The other half is, of course, collecting candies. This year, we did not have time to think through what to wear as Halloween came on the heels of the Final school exams. We decided to raid our closets and be creative in recycling our costumes. The good thing is that the tweens are big enough to share some of our outfits.
The boy is wearing his dad’s Ninja outfit that we bought three years ago to celebrate his Ninja-style birthday. A little oversized for sure, but enough to create the effect with the adult-sized Scream mask (also recycled from Halloween past). The girl is recycling from Big Brother’s closet with her black one-piece outfit and borrowing dad’s old béret and Dollar-medallion. Make-up for the mask completes her look as the Cat Burglar.
Many of the younger kids wore your usual superheroes and princess theme outfits. Some had on really cool homemade outfits but I was not quick enough to snap them before they ran off with their parents to collect their candies.
The good thing about Woodgrove Halloween is that there are many teenagers here to join in the fun. Here is a group of them, cheekily and cheerfully calling out that they were for sale… They were such great sports when I asked if I could snap a photo of them to put on my blog.
Then, there are those who really got into the spirit of Halloween. These two girls had on some serious makeup! I was amazed!
When we were in Tokyo recently, I was hoping to see some Japanese teens dressed in Harajuku style. Sadly, I only found a group of them. So when I saw these students, I could not resist asking them for a photo opt. And they were very kind to oblige. Who says teenagers are scary?
We had so much fun this year doing Halloween Trick Or Treat @ Woodlands Woodgrove! Next year, we are coming back, with the kids’ friends.
Happy Halloween!!
