Gardens by the Bay: Christmas Wonderland and Poinsettia Wishes

This winter, Gardens by the Bay transform itself once again into Christmas Wonderland. Back for the 6th year, this popular year-event promises a merry feast for the senses with a wide array of gastronomical adventures, fun craft workshops and one-of-a-kind shopping experiences to complement the stunning festive backdrop of light, performances and ‘snow’ in the tropics.

Christmas Wonderland

Bring your kids to experience ‘snow’ at Christmas Wonderland. Enjoy Nordic winter, meet Santa, shop at the charming Christmas Village, enjoy carnival games and rides and watch the performances at the Meadow Theatre and Christmas Parade. Another highlight is the magical luminarie lights that transform the fairground into a stunning instagrammable wonderland. Be sure to photograph the Luminarie Light Sculptures and video the delight on your family’s faces during the Blizzard Time.

Christmas Wonderland takes place from 29 November (Fri) – 26 December (Thu), 5pm to 11pm at Supertree Grove and The Meadow.

Poinsettia Wishes (圣诞心愿) at Flower Dome

Christmas also feels more “Christmas-y” with poinsettia in the house. Poinsettia is thought to bring good luck. It is also known as the Christmas Star and Christmas Flower because the shape of the Poinsettia flower and leaves remind us of the Star of Bethlehem, which led the Wise Men to Jesus.

This year, Gardens by the Bay wishes to bestow good luck on the residents of Singapore by hosting a Poinsettia Wishes floral display in the Flower Dome. Her Excellency Dorte Bech Vizard, the Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore lends a hand in the creative direction of the yuletide display. See if you can spot the iconic Nordic landmarks such as the architecture of the Bolgen building in Denmark, Santa Claus Village in Finland, Hallgrimskirkja church in Iceland, Vennesla library in Norway and Triangeln train station in Sweden as you travel from Santa’s post office to the reindeer station? Another worthy sight is the charming choir of Nordic gnomes called Nisse who adds to the festive cheer in the landscape of winter blooms.

Poinsettia wishes are on display from 8 November 2019 (Fri) to 5 January 2020 (Sun), 9am to 9pm.

Admission charges to Flower Dome apply.

Join the “Poinsettia Wishes” Garden Trail or “ASK Me!” tours to know more about these amazing plants. The Display Interpreters will share fascinating facts and anecdotes about the floral display. The tours last approximately 15 minutes and are available on a first-come-first-served basis. To participate, gather at the “ASK Me!” poster near the Flower Field. Guided tours are free, but admission charge to the Flower Dome applies.

The tours are held daily at these timings: 11am and 3pm; (2pm to 5pm on 16, 17 November and 7, 8, 21, 22 December)

On 28 December (Sat), get ‘crafty’ with conifers and fold origami fir trees. Get Crafty is a series of 6 drop-in activities complementing the seasonal floral displays. This session is FREE and is held from 2pm – 5pm.
